Announcing fiddlekids 2009 session: June 22 - 26, 2009
Now in its twelfth year, fiddlekids is a unique, fun-filled summer day camp for children, devoted to traditional fiddle music. At fiddlekids, bluegrass, Appalachian, Celtic, jazz, klezmer, and other traditional fiddle styles are explored through tunes, songs, dance, and art.
We are thrilled to announce our faculty: Liz Carroll, Julian Smedley, John Blasquez, and Caroline McCaskey teaching fiddle, Evie Ladin, dance, and Marlene Walters, art. Bobbi Nikles continues as director. Tuition is $520.00, with EARLY BIRD special price of $480.00 if full tuition is paid by March 22, 2009.
fiddlekids welcomes violin students ages 7-13. We request that applicants have played violin a minimum of one year prior to camp. Children learn in small groups, with an emphasis on ear training. They will be introduced to theory, basic composition, harmony, and improvisation in a fun and practical manner. Your children will learn from each of our experienced instructors. In addition, art and dance classes are offered in small, age-based groups. These classes serve to provide enrichment and thematic connections with the music.
